Stopped for a natural break on my ride today near Dunford Bridge and these little fellas caught my eye

A quick Google Lens when I got home says they're Alder Leaf Beetles. Seems an interesting insect. Long thought extinct in UK but they were found near Manchester in 2004 and suspected to have arrived in some foreign alders. Since then they've spread but are still uncommon

I'm rubbish on tree leaves. Is that an Alder they're on?

A red squirrel played in the beech trees behind our garden this afternoon- it was a blustery day so it was having fun bouncing around on the whippy branches.

How did he/she get in there?

Through the hole with the light blue flange. When I tapped the feeder to wake the beastie from its slumbers, it shot out of the hole like a missile and flew five feet to the ground.
