Flowering ivy like that is so good for pollinators. Food late in the season when lots of the other plants have stopped flowering.

Spotted this, basking in the sun, this morning. Some kind of Dragonfly? You can't tell size from the photograph, but, about 4-5cm wingspan.

Yes - a pair used to be May-only visitors to our garden until 2012 and that was the last we saw of any until a singleton turned up last year. It stayed single. This year, another (different) single one appeared in May and was regularly feeding in our garden until early August. We thought it had migrated early until it appeared as one of a pair ten days ago. I'n still trying to work out if its mate is last year's one.

While i shouldnt be distracted...driving to work this morning, wide grass verges, maybe 50ft from the road sat a fox, really bright and fresh looking, black ears, intently lòoking down at something.
Just a couple seconds worth but a very strong image.

Had to evict this spider out to the garden today .
