First go with the forest camera last night. Chose 3 shot burst rather than video to save on battery life but as results show less than satisfactory, so will try video next. So camera couple of metres into the woods bordering our garden. Forestry Commission land, and no fences or hedges.

Anyway, what do you think, couple of deer? Plenty of them around here.

I'll have another go tonight at a different location.

What sort of deer do you have locally? We mainly have Roe up here & they have a distinctive white rump.

Anyone who likes looking at camera trap images might enjoy MammalWeb You can contribute by identifying animals in images - or upload your I think.

Disclaimer: I know very little about deer.

I believe we have both Roe and Red deer locally. I've certainly seen Roe with their white rum. However, looked at information, some of the deer I see appear to be too tall and heavy to be Roe. I need to get some good photos and ask for expert opinion.

This one we had the other day on our patio.

Last night sitting on the patio watching the hogs was fantastic , i settled down around 9.20 pm after putting the food out 10 minutes before cleared a couple of plant pots from my line of vision and just waited sure enough just 1 to start with then a second i gradually moved closer bit by bit till i got to within 2 foot . One went for a walk up our garden and within seconds another one came from under next doors fence so two were eating side by side .

Sure they could sense me there as every so often they just stopped eating and stayed stationary then carried on . One went back under the fence and left the first arrival munching , i retreated back to my chair and watched and listened to it eating very noisy but then it's dry food.

I will do it again for sure but not for a few days as i don't want to scare them off

While walking on Stanton Moor, Derbyshire yesterday I saw a bird fly to the top of a small Birch tree.
Hoping for a Woodlark, but had to be satisfied with a common-as-muck Meadow Pipit.
Oh well, it posed nicely!
