We took one of the very popular boat trips from Seahouses, Northumberland to

the Farne Islands to look at the wildlife. They are Seabird Central with thousands and thousands of guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes, fulmars, sandwich terns, eider ducks, as well as puffins perching on the cliffs or slightly inland. It's well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Here are some of the locals in the brilliant sunshine......

The Farnes are amazing aren't they? That trip is one of my highlights of the year.

Lots lof wildlife in our recent Lands End to John O'Groats. Managed to bore the other participants into submission by teaching them to recognise bird song. I think we got as far as Yellowhammer, Song Thrush, Curlew,Oystercatcher, Swallow, Chiffchaff.
A few mammals...a fox ran across a road and I saw my first ever stoat

Called in at a garden centre in Perthshire and the concerned staff had seen a baby swallow fall out of the nest in the eaves and wasn't quite able to fly. After some chasing around the car park I managed to catch it and they set it up with some bedding, water and mealworms. Sadly I doubt it would make it but we did what we could

My everlasting quest to take a half decent photo of a glow worm continues. But here are the best I could manage from Friday night’s ride to a local nature reserve called Wicken Fen.

A perfect, still, moonlit summer night with barn owls for company. Good to see quite a few glow worms, as the population is in freefall sadly.

Found a glowworm on the kitchen terrace/patio. Incredible thing. As bright green LED!

Other thing I've got is frogs and millions (I possibly exaggerate, but only a bit) of froglets (or toadlets ? Dunno!), maybe 10-15mm long. All over the grass, in the woods, everywhere. I'll get a photo.

And I've bought a woodland camera and stuck it in the woods behind the house tonight, see what I get. Possibly, deer, fox, badgers. I'll report back if anything appears.
