Day off today and woke up with no voice and feeling bit crap so I spent the afto sat in the garden. The corvids were out in force: saw three crows mobbing a buzzard and a load of magpies and jackdaws attacking a cat! Like a scene from The Birds it was

Not my picture, but I saw a flock of these in the park today.

Knew they were there as I've spoken to others that have seen them, but today was the first time I've seen them for myself

Such a distinctive noise is what alerted me to them.

I'm now back in WA and had a lovely walk in a new location for me, in the hills just outside Perth . I only saw one bird new to me but great views of many others. Here are a few...

Australian Ringneck:

New Holland Honeyeater, acrobatically catching flies:

And not a great shot but a new one to me, a Square-tailed Kite:

It's interesting to see how wildlife populations change over time, particularly if it's a positive change

When I moved to Glossop 20 years ago there were no buzzards at all. Never saw one for at least 10 years

Then I started to see one quite nearby. Fast forward to last year and I now see them occasionally on the moorland above the town.

Couple of days ago, riding home, I saw four together circling over the fields. Buzzards are common in much of UK but it's nice to see them expanding into what is presumably marginal territory

There was a sea bird on the track by the beach. Not obviously injured but it looked faintly stunned

. A couple of hours later, it was sitting on the rocks a few yards away. It has beautiful white and light grey feathers and a long black tail.
Does anybody know what it is?

An Australian Wood Duck family. I counted 14 ducklings! And I thought bringing up three children was hard enough

I think I might have seen a Peregrine again earlier this afternoon. It was a long way off and was circling around trying to gain height. The light reflecting off the underside of it's wings drew my attention to it . At first I thought it was a gull but the wing shape looked wrong through my binoculars. It was behaving in a similar way to which it was the last time I saw it.
