I know nothing about moths. This fella was flying around the living room last night. Any idea what it is?

Looks like a Large Yellow Underwing. Could you see orange on its hind wings when it was flying?

Here's one from my trap - my first ever Poplar Hawkmoth.

The damsel flies still seem to be doing what they are good at in and around the pond. I don't think I have ever seen so many different types before.

I'd definitely say Yellow Underwing as well.

Just struggling out of a deep bunker while golfing yesterday and nearly got hit by the largest green woodpecker I've seen for ages flying out of the neighboring woods.

Suffice to say that was the closest that I got to a birdie all day.

This one certainly was, about twice the size of the ones we occasionally get in the garden.

I've donated blood to so many I've given up fighting them. Turns out the reaction is worse if I squash them as they're tucking in.

I don't object to the blood letting, it's the big itchy lump they leave behind that I object to!

That's what I mean - the itchiness and swelling is negligible when I shrug and leave them to it. Or maybe it's coincidence and I'm becoming immune as the season continues.
