In Bristol there was a rather good pub called the Black Boy, situated on Blackboy Hill, which is itself a continuation of Whiteladies Road. I seem to remember a story that the latter historically referred to ladies of negotiable affections, though it's mainly posh sofa shops and wine bars these days. Sadly it seems to have closed and the building turned into bedsits
That's the one just off Dirty Slapper Avenue, a few yards from the junction with Man Whore Grove?
Clearly you are familiar with the district.
Is that where they play the game "Möhringen Pheasant"
I realise this may be locked in short order but really?! The world is going mad

Has anybody asked them if they like being called sly? It’s a bit patronising to assume they don’t care.
I'm all for animal rights and absolutely hate fox hunting and all forms of hunting for sadistic 'pleasure', but I can't see anything derogatory in calling foxes sly. 🤔 🧐
My local used to be The Leg of Mutton.
That must piss them right off.
for some reason that reminds me of the kerfuffle about golliwogs on marmalade
Now you've done it: I went to listen to a couple of games of "Mornington Crescent" and Beautiful Daughter just asked me to explain the game...
