There used to be a pub in Taunton called the Ferret and Trouserleg. I suspect it has now been renamed.

Wait till they find out about The Black Boy Inn at Caernarfon someone will have a seizure!!!

They did, but the origins aren't as obvious as the professionally offended would like to believe. Something to do with the second King Charles having stayed there, for twas his nickname. His surname was Stuart, but originated from Svart, which means black. Or something.

That doesn't stop the perpetually indignant from moaning about it sometimes and demanding it be changed.

It's awful isn't it. Something must be done about all this perpetual indignation. It makes me furious, and it tramples on my natural rights.

In Stuttgart there's a town called Möhringen ("Town of the Moor") which always had the crest below:

I looked it up and discovered that after complaints for obvious reasons a couple of years ago, a competition was held to make a new town shield, and now they have this:

Möhringing is now part of a bigger town with "Sonnenberg" (top) "Möhringen" (middle) and "Fasanenhof (Pheasant Yard") (lower)
I understand why they wanted it changing, and why they chose the new designs biut the other three aspects go back for up to a thousand years, when Möhringen was part of a different country. It's a shame they couldn't ditch the admittedly rather crass caricature and keep the rest.
