Why? It is very obvious indeed that you need an eye test of some sort. Whether it is wrt perception or comprehension, I do not know - I am not an expert in such matters. But an eye test is what you need, at least to start with, in order to rule out an easily-correctable, purely visual issue.

Eh? I agree with you that many people find comfort in religion, it just not the only route to comfort. There are all manner of groups that believe in different things; and there are atheists too. I have no problem with any of these groupings as long as -

• people of one group don't hold themselves to be superior to those of other groups
  and
• they don't do anything unspeakable in the name of their belief
