Everyone's allowed one mistake.

Why does anyone think that what Bert thought on all this, was so vitally important anyhow. ??

Isn't the overall idea that we gather our own, evidence, process it.

And then make up our own minds.??

Or have I missed something .??

as a non believer, but believer in free speech, seems a tad extreme/unwarranted to me to make a post and then immediately call for a lock.
I trust you don't have a messiah complex DC.
No.
I just feel the troll is being humoured when that should not be the case.
And I will be the first to admit that I have a baaaad reaction to preachy types, in any setting...
So I'll bow out and hit ignore.

he doesn't trouble me to be honest - and some of the responses to him/her are interesting/educational.
Also, I don't really see any nastiness.
A bit of petulance maybe

I recommend everyone take a look at the wonderful churches and your bike photo thread.

That tells me all I need to know.
And confirms - as if it needed confirming! - that you need an eye test, badly.

But he was a clever bloke so he must be right.

I'm now going to also use that logic though, and say that someone who carried on from Einstein, Stephen Hawkings, disagreed with the existence of a god.

Even 'clever' blokes are swayed by the culture in which they are raised and live.

If Einstein had been born lived and worked in say India there's every chance he might have been inclined towards pantheistic beliefs.

How do we know that this "god" isn't in reality some fawning middle manager kowtowing to some big boss above him/her?
I mean the universe is pretty damn big, earth is pretty piddly - perhaps we've been delegated to some minor flunkey who's had the power go to his head and is taking the P seeing what he can get us earthlings to do/see how some of us prostrate ourselves. Such is the way with petty bullies. Take shoot from above/mete it out to those below, or can convince themselves are below.
If so, get us the organ grinder, not the monkey.
