As Christopher Hitchens so succinctly put it: "Which is more likely: that all natural order is suspended, or that a Jewish minx should tell a lie?"Funny how Christianity started, isn't it? Some young girl was up the duff after a one night stand, had to come up with an excuse for her parents and the whole thing snowballed from there.
We've all been there. Some little lie needs a slightly bigger lie to keep it going and then a bigger one again. Mine didn't end up in a worldwide religion thoughFunny how Christianity started, isn't it? But I totally understand how people who feel something lacking in their life personally, spiritually, or materially might be drawn towards religiosity.
And also how those in dire need, difficulty, or straightened circumstances might appeal to a higher power, in the hope of assistance.
We are all part of a much greater whole, for sure, and should recognise that, but man made constructs such as religious faith, are not psychologically necessary for everyone.
You do you.
But don't try to persuade others, that 'faith' is a prerequisite for a life well lived
