My response also, except mine was more like ohmygod said very, very fast as I dropped the hatch back down and literally slid down the ladder. My heart was into overdrive and the adrenaline was threatening to run down my legs.....

I don't know how many hornets were in there but after the insecticide treatment the road outside was covered in them, as was the inside of the loft. Wish I'd taken some photos but I didn't think to at the time.

Imagine smearing yourself in a purée of over-ripe fruit and then dropping the nut on that fugger!
