brand sang a song to his voicemail and had a line "and I slept with your granddaughter" and then JR said Andrew Sach would probably kill himself when he heard it. That's as much as I know!

Not worthy of the PM and Cameron commenting on. I'm outraged at that

I think I'm missing something. Does anyone actually know how offensive these remarks were that they broadcast? Not being a middle of the road kind of person who likes beige I can't stand radio 2 and never listen to it. ;)

Anyway: my opinions - Woss: an OK chat show host but not as good as parky; Brand: nope, he's completely passed me by but looks like he needs a slap.

Just heard the 2 of them have been suspended and their programmes taken off air until further notice.

The world has gone mad!!!

No, only suspended so far. The public hanging is later.

The fact that the BBC are bowing to public pressure. This programme was aired on the 18th October. 11 days later by people complaining they suspend the 2 of them. 18,000 people have complained to the BBC. WTF!!! You trying to tell me everyone of them heard the programme. No did they heck. They are just jumping on the bandwagon and trying to get people they don't like sacked. It's a witchhunt.

And don't get me started that it's the top item on the news at 10 last night and that the PM and Cameron are commenting.

Now let me pick you up on your other point. You mention "in a job, you do something that was clearly wrong, you get the consequences, which often include suspension"

Now tell me this. You work in a company and one day you do something to a customer they are not happy about. Your boss is aware, talks to you about it and you apologise to the said customer and think the matter is closed. Then the customer tells eveyone they know and all of a sudden people who don't know what happened and the full facts complain in droves. 11 day's later you are suspended by your boss.

Would you not feel hard done by????

The BBC has missed out on a nice little earner.
They should make the number for complaints 'premium rate'.
Well, for at least the next few days anyway.

Both can be funny, but on this occasion, they overstepped the line considerably and should take the consequences and if that's suspension and/or sacking, so be it. Along with the person who ok'd the broadcast (as it was pre-recorded). Problem seems to be that they don't know when to stop so that what started off as funny is milked for all it's worth & more, so it is no longer funny. For the life of me, I can't see the humour in a nasty prank phone call to a very elderly man who is pretty much no longer in the public eye, not telling the rest of us how to live our lives and doing differently in his own, and then leave messages about how you've been screwing his grandaughter. That's just nasty and unnecessary. If it was Joe Public doing the same thing from his/her employer's phone then I suspect that a suspension/dismissal and a visit from Mr Plod would have happened before now. Perhaps the payment of vast sums of money has gone to the heads of the two 'stars' and they think that every single utterance from any oriface of their anatomy is automatically incredibly funny. In which case, it's about time they realised it's not. Comedy does not have to be bland, but being offensive to an old man about the sexual habits of his grandaughter is not funny either.

Ross can be quite funny on his TV show but he annoys me how far up his own ar$e he is and the fact that he talks over his guests more often than not. Sometimes feel that he gets good guests on so people can watch him taking the pee as opposed to listen to what the guests have to say, as they barely can get a word in.

Russell Brand, for me anyway, falls into the Ricky Gervais category. I just really do not get him. Complete twat IMHO.

As I think Parky said, Ross at 48 years old, should be way above this sort of nonsense. I don't doubt he will get a severe slap on the wrist and probably be made to publicly apologise, however he is too much of a big ratings puller to get the sack and I don't think that that will happen.

Brand though, couldn't give a to$$ about him, get shot of him as he really is not funny at all. Once again IMHO.

As has been said, if anyone of us were to make such prank calls, we could face a custodial sentence.

Brand has fast become unfunny and already narrowly missed a fight with Rod Stewart after making similar comments about his daughter, allegedly, and Ross has just become complacent and lazy in his dotage IMO.

All very sad and unecessary.

What's despairing is the lack of judgement and standards within the BBC. It would appear that the suspension took place because 10,000 complaints were received. Surely somebody in the BBC could have noticed straight away that they had been out of order and took action simply because it was the right thing to do.

This was my point. Bowing to public pressure is wrong, wrong.

I think the BBC had dealt with it though and then $hit it due to all the pressure and suspended them.
