Errrr... I'm not quite clear here. Are you talking about England losing at
playing football - or England losing at
bidding for the WC - or both?
Personally, I'm partly relieved, partly indifferent, though I'll be 68 when it comes around and well into retirement, so I wouldn't have had the aggro and anxiety that almost gave me a nervous breakdown over Wembley a few years back (I was involved in the contractors work to fit out the stadium). There is a humungous downside to Britain hosting any major sports-fest. I'm glad I'm not personally doing the Olympics (at least - I think I'm not.... )
Mind you - our lot also worked on the Emirates (Arsenal's ground) and that apparently went a treat - hardly any problems. Wembley, of course, has a chapter to itself in history....
