No complaints from me  Being from the midlands, "mum" was pronounced "mom" there, so I coulda shoulda tried it but _O__Y has so many possibilities

Certainly, but not clear if the full version is ever a WM thing, only the shorter one.

There's the usual fun explaining to non-WMidlanders that we are not using American spelling, we are using local lingo.

I think the clue to which standard spelling will be used is in the first 2 letters of the domain name NYtimes ... Noo Yawk ;)

As I got off the train today I overlooked someone doing Wordle on their phone. They had some utterly bonkers words, but they had all been allowed. MOLED, MOCKY and MOONY.

Unfortunately I couldn't hang around to see if they finished.

slightly related, someone had right go at me when I told them the answers to a couple of crossword clues they were struggling with on a packed commuter train. i thought it was fair game as they'd pretty much stuffed their Evening standard under my nose.

You spoke to someone on a commuter train?

(Silence while I grapple with the enormity of your misbehaviour)

By line 4 I had _O_ER

There were 4 common words I could find that would fit, but only 2 guesses left - CORER, POSER, POKER & ROGER. These 4 words had 5 new letters I hadn't used so far - C, P, S, G & K, so for the fifth line I tried PACKS, which gave me _ _ C _ _, so I knew it had to start with a C :okay:
