I think these days that there are far more blokes who're worried about helmet hair, since they're all spending silly money getting haircuts that look like they've been dragged backwards through a vat of lard !

Umm, I'm sure you made a comment about keeping your helmet on a PfS because of helmet hair...

It's not exactly a prob for you tho Origamsit.;)
Tho Linford was impressed by how tall you are so he wouldn't have seen that!

Well it doesn't bother me...but then:

I don't wear a helmet
My hair's a "bird's nest" style, cycling doesn't really affect it!
My office is really casual so don't need smart clothes - mostly I just change my top
I don't shovel on the make-up either...

If I had to wear a suit every day, or look smart for customer-facing for example, it would be more difficult. We don't have showers here, though we do have a changing area.

Cycling in heels is fine! Not sure you can use clipless pedals though.........

There's a marketing opportunity just waiting for a budding entrapeneur - clipless high heels. Not sure how thick a sole you'd need to recess the clip though?!

I saw a lady on the Gloucester road cycling in heels the other day. I complimented her in them, but said I couldn't do it - but it doesn't make it wrong as a way to get about town. Same as me and my flip flops - I like them so why not wear them.

indeed,

i generally only wear flat soled trainers (skate style trainers) to bike in or my biking shoes (spd's) depending on which bike i'm on.

my girlfriend on the other hand will bike in any kind of trainer from pumps through to loose fitting flat boots unless we're going off road, in which case its a pair of old running trainers, taken me a little while to get used to it, telling myself 'its ok, she's just pootleing to and from work / my flat etc' and now i'm fine with it.

wash it and go to bed has worked for me regardless of hair length!

Maybe its something to do with there just being more men that cycle anyway, so it is reflected in commuting. I road ride and ride off-road and in both situations there are always more men. At my workplace there is a 50/50 split of male/female commuters. me and one man!
