I actually don't see the link. If a cyclist runs a red light when there is no on coming traffic, or all the pedestrians have cleared the crossing and rides on a pavement where there are no pedestrians, how does make that make it ok for a driver to come so close as to endanger him?The ultimate hypocrite is the cyclist who jumps lights and rides on the pavement but then complains that car drivers aren't respecting his road space. How do they expect to be treated as legitimate road users if they flout the rules of the road?
You sound like every comments section following an article about a cycle fatality.
