I do hope the £98 had TA rings. Their touring range is excellent value provided you get the TA rings which are harder and longer lasting. I bought one from them last year and they allowed me to choose custom rings over the standard set, no extra charge. Also got a free diary.

No, the £98 set didn't - I wanted TA rings for the very reason you did and I should have stood my ground. What narked me about Spa was that from my age and disposition I clearly had some idea what I was talking about, but they still thought fit to argue me out of it. Their reasoning was that the TA rings had the chain peg in the wrong place on the big ring - well, ok, but I'm perfectly capable of adjusting the derailleur travel correctly.

dropped 2 frames off at lbs on monday for both bottom brackets and headsets incl races to be removed prior to both frames being blasted and re painted should be collected on saturday and i will be surprised if i am charged for this , because they know i will be back to have them re fitted once frames done along with any other bits i need in betweem

Cue plasterboard repairs to User482's kitchen ceiling, and a trip to casualty.

Hah! Sensibly, I did the job outside. I stripped and cleaned the fork, removed seals, drained the oil, and reassembled with new seals, oil and grease. The whole job took about an hour.

There are a few oil stains on the patio to clean up...

My LBS has moved to new premises, more than doubled in size and now has a little cafe in the store where you can chill with a coffee. Fair play to them.
