BMW i4 is good if you want a saloon style EV. Really like mine and it is dripping with tech and you can control lots of functions direct from the app.

the VW ID7 gets good reviews and has excellent range but not sure about the tech

I know it’s personal tatste but I wouldn’t go anywhere near a Tesla. Neither their looks, lack of normal controls or Elon himself appeal!

Check for tyre early wear. My friends have one and are changing tyres every 10k miles

Thanks. Yes, I’ve heard that. Rear camber means the inners wear sooner so I’m checking every week. So far so good.

I think EVs are still in a transitional stage.

But, if that was all I could buy, I’d be looking at the Chinese options - BYD in particular.

I test drove plenty of different EVs last year before ordering one. If tech is a concern, VW is bad across the board. BMW and Cupra (ironically given they're VW group) were best for tech. Wasn't a fan of the EV6, but the newer Kias get good write ups.

I really like my company MG4. That said, I’m paying £120 p.a. on it in BIK (it’ll go up to a whopping £180 next year!), and the servicing/insurance/tax/most of the charging is free to me, too.

I've been trying to work out if I'm being robbed or not. When Arval sell you the lease they give you the price to you in real terms. Mine is supposed to be £420 a month I think. When I look at my payslip though I see -£720 but the tax I'm paying seems to be way above what I'd be paying if that had been taken out first. Very puzzling.

BMW isn't VW group?!

As I said earlier VW have massively improved their tech on the latest 2025 models. I have a 25MY Born and it’s been faultless. It’s a great car.

Whilst I believe that to be true, their attitude to the ID community has been terrible, which puts me off getting one of their cars. My ID4 is the 2022 model and it is already being treated as obsolete in terms of software upgrades. This is a £50k car.
