One of these , late 60's Hillman Minx , had some fun in that !
Paid £20 for it ,
I had one of those too. £20 must have been the going rate because that's what I gave for it.
The one I bought from an old chap across the road had both passenger side doors stove in. They still worked but was well pushed in.

I did well with it because the first week I got it I was sent over to Whitby, up to Middlesborough, down to Sheffield and over to Manchester.
I got about £30 in expenses so fuel and car paid for all in one go.

It was the 1970's mind.

My first car was a Bond mini car 3 wheeler estate which you could drive on a m/c license..

I bought a Ford Prefect after I passed my test.Window screen wipers were a pain.trhey worked on some sort of engine vacuum system. They went like hell going down hill when under light engine load.Accelerarte and they virtually stopped.

I had a series of Bond Minicars; helped found the national association, "Bond Info".

One of my favourite cars was an early 2-door VW 411, like this but 2-tone light & dark blue.
It fell to bits not long after I sold it.

I had a massive crash in one of those and climbed out of the front passenger window unharmed, brilliant car.

Loved it to bits. It could turn on a sixpence. Riddled with rust (you could see the road beneath your feet, and when it rained heavily you'd arrive with soaked shoes). Excellent to drive. Sadly had to scrap it in the end after a wheel fell off.

That was my first car too, it was an orange one and cost me £100. The painwork was pretty good but the underside was rusted to feck.

Growing up my dad had a Riley 2.5 litre.

Absolutely beautiful. Along with the Mk1 those Lotus Cortinas were fantastic looking cars, and whoever came up with the colour scheme should have been knighted at least three time over.

They are good looking. I've started to scan and archive a the family photos going back to around the early 50's there are loads of this car on holidays etc. Shame I've not got to them yet.
