Which fool decided it was a good idea to put Morris Marina door handles on it though?

Take your pick, there were a fair few at BL.

Yes quite a few BL parts found their way into Discoverys (TDi models; 89 - 95) & Range Rovers (70 - 95)
Marina door handles
Maestro van back lights on the Discovery (& head-lights on the 200Tdi)

By The Way

I have absolutely no idea, if that St Trinians Farm gave its name (or inspiration) to the various films, be it the originals, or the ghastly remakes

And Also
That was my Discovery, owned from 2001, to late 2004

The plate was quite accurate
It is/was a 'S' suffix (1998), a 50th Anniversary model, & (as you can see, if you look at my user-name) my initials
It was later transferred onto a Defender 110Td5 'Heritage' Station Wagon

hanging-on in quiet desperation ...
Location
Kirton, Devon.
The Lada 4x4 Niva was quite good. I knew a couple of people who swore by them in the early 90's. I nearly bought one, but bought a Suzuki SJ413 instead.

I remember the Cardif Lada taxis. They all had white bonnets and black bodies.

I think the Ladas also had double skin wing and body panels.
There's gazillions of them running in deepest, darkest, -25C Russia. I had one as a taxi recently. The Niva was and still is a basic but good 4x4. Again, many still running. Basic but solid and reliable.

My brother-in-law had a Niva
He bashed the hell out of it, until it decided to abandon all the oil from the front axle on the M62 one evening, & lock up solid
Sadly being a pillock here, & venturing off the 'BOAT'
My old 110Tdi in front, & he expected recovering (I had to, or SWMBO might have shouted at me, when I got home without him)

After that, he too, had a couple of SJ's
I even took him over to Wilsden, or Alderley Edge, to collect a non-driver..................... which I found out, when we got there, & had to think laterally to get it on the trailer
Find a local road-edge that was higher than the trailer, block the (thankfully side-road) with the trailer
Tow the SJ into position
Trailer hand-brake on, wheels chocked, drag it on with a tow-strop

I think this was what that particular SJ was eventually turned into

As An Aside;
Someone he knew at the time, & I got to meet, had (still has??), a FORD 'JEEP'
(look at the rear-tub pressing, below the stencilling)
Same guy also had a 'SEEP'
