Beginning to think I am losing my marbles. I decided to nip off for a night camping out with my motorbike, so started getting my camping gear together. Where has my Vango groundsheet gone though? I had it on my last trip just a few weeks ago, and distinctly remember rolling it up into it's compression bag when I came home. But I have turned the house upside down and cannot find it. You wouldn't put it anywhere else than alongside other camping stuff, would you?

This is just the latest in a long line of "stuff" that simply disappears. MP3 players; books; glasses; CD's; good pens; etc.. I live alone so it's not as if I can blame anyone else for tidying up and putting stuff in the wrong place. It will no doubt turn up somewhere, sometime, but meantime it's annoying!

It's always in the last place you look.

There's a never ending battle to keep stuff together in this house. I tend to know where I've put stuff, whereas Mrs Cube strives continually to relocate anything I need right now to some hitherto uncharted corner of the universe. I have found that ranting is counterproductive in these circumstances, as logic surely dictates that my shooting mat belongs behind the furniture in the conservatory doesn't it?

I have a developing theory. Anything I buy for myself can only ever be considered to be single use. Nail clippers are the thing that prove this most of all. I'll search the house top to bottom and conclude that yet another pair has dematerialised, so I'll go and treat myself to some more. Not the most expensive product in the world, unless you stop to consider that I will use them once, then put them in my bedside drawer, never to be seen again. But no, other forces are at work. Cubette very kindly offered to lend me her pair last week. and whaddaya know? They are identical in every detail to the ones I bought in May. Spooky.

Are you putting them all back in the same place, where you can find them?
