I'm not sure what the problem is. If they said "man" you'd know it was someone over 18 and (maybe) below pension age, so a range of nearly 50 years. As they said "teen", it's a range of 7 years. Much more precise.

You can easily read the article for more information, as you clearly did.


So, males stop being a "man" after reaching pension age?

In a headline? "Pensioner" is common

I think the issue is that a 19 year-old can be both a teenager and a man. The media choose which one depending on how they want to report it.

Teenager immediately makes me think of someone who is 14 or 15.

I am just observing some of the words that appear in headlines. If you have a problem with that, take it up with subeditors.
you said that if it says man they are under pension age.

I am quite sure many people over pension age still regard themselves as men
