What's the shelf-life of a jar of home-made chutney?

Goodness you must be slow not to have been able to determine that long since.
I was brought up to believe one should respect one's elders. It's hard to break bad habits.

Vinegary foods like chutney will last for years Rich, it will be fine if a bit thickened. I found some home-made pickled onions that are six years old - they are so strong they're like munching chillies!
Mostly this, but they will deteriorate albeit slowly, colour fade, finer flavours decomposing etc. But it should be safe. I'm munching my way through some few years old home mead chutney I found in the back of the larder and it's fine.

Good Chutney is food for the gods.

As a gesture of goodwill, would you accept a complimentary cup of instant coffee with a dairy creamer?

No.
As I've not seen the manufacturing process, the packaging or the ingredients I cant be certain of its safety ....

It still might be safe even so.

Indeed. We've got some Green Tomato Chutney we made 4 years ago and I think it's better than it was back then...

I've also found some chicken stock from 2009. Much as I hate the thought, perhaps I should send everything from that era to feed the rats at the dump.

Dammit. That my favourite!
We had a very old neighbour who died a few years ago. My mom went round to help to clear the house up. She picked up a tin of strawberries from a shelf in the pantry. It was that old that the bottom had rusted away and the tin was empty, with no evidence of there ever being any strawberries in there.
My dear MIL was cleaning out her fridge the other day and as she was wiping a jar of Dijon Mustard she spotted that the Best Before date was just before our first daughter was born .... she's 22 now. ....
The jar is back in the fridge as a heirloom.

The possibility of sitting on the toilet the next day shitting through the eye of a needle . That's the reason not to bother eating food that is 6 years old ^_^

you really really don't understand PRESERVING do you.

in 2007 when we were clearing under the stairs at my dads after my mum was placed into the care home ( the hoarding was just a minor symptom of the dementia ) it had jars of pickled onions in it buried at the rear , my mother last made pickled onions when I was in school so that was coming close to 20 years old. they were lovely , far far better than any of the haywards rubbish.

we found catering tins of fruit pie fillings, mincemeat ( for mince pies , not minced meat FFS) , dried soups, tins of everything imaginable. some of it with no best before dates on as they had been bought before they existed.

all tasted absolutely fine and I had no sitting on the bog issues.

more likely to get the trots from a ready meal
