Back, way back in the 60s & early 70s, there were Westerns galore on TV to choose from -
For us young'uns - the Cisco Kid, The Lone Ranger, Tenderfoot, Champion the Wonder Horse, The Range Rider, Bronco Lane etc..
And for the 'Grown Ups' - Bonanza, The High Chaparral, Alias Smith & Jones, Wagon Train, Rawhide etc..
Now, they appear to have gone seriously out of fashion in favour of medical, law enforcement, military & superhero series.
Bring'em back - !

There have been quite a few western "style" shows and movies, especially on Paramount+ and Apple TV. But few of them have that proper western feel. They are mostly about acquiring or protecting land. Terrestrial TV seems to favour dating shows, reality TV and other claptrap. But that's the world we now live in. The masses bring in the revenue and apparently that's what they like

I don't have a TV licence so dont watch live TV or the player.

That leaves me with Paramount+ and that's heaving with westerns and modern westerns in film and as TV series. I love them all.

Just don't accept a lift to "the Train Station" if you know what's good for you.

You have to get with the brand and then they will look after you

Weird stuff about glorification of the American foundation myth.

If you are looking for authenticity, then westerns are wrong for you. It is a genre based on myth and lore. Either roll with it or not. But there is plenty to appreciate within the genre. I raise you Ennio Morricone, no matter the film.

Yeah, there's always the odd exception (to prove the rule). Just don't get me started on C&W 'music'.

I guess they are just not very politically correct - white blokes riding about killing indians then heading off to the whore house. they simply don't fit in with modern mores.

Pity really I loved a good western

In the 50s there was a western every day of the week. Monday Hop along Cassidy, Tuesday The Lone Ranger, Wednesday The Cisco Kid, Thursday Rin Tin Tin, Friday Rawhide, Saturday Chyanne but Sunday it was Sea Hunt with Lloyd Bridges. There were hundreds more but can’t remember them now but my favourite was F Troop a really funny US Cavalry theme western.
