I subdivide my GPS into two categories Commuting, Transport and other stuff; and Road/Leisure miles of the gps stuff; and fortunately 86% of my rides were leisure but I only worked half the year
You idle geet, what you been doing in your spare time then ?...... Oh! ^_^

Ticker resets tomorrow, so for the record, 12362.91miles, ~6300 commuting, ~5500 leisure, the rest shopping and chores around town, 10700 of that on fixed. Didn't set out to do quite so much, just upped the morning commute a bit.

Happy new year all, roll on into 2013!
Cracking effort,well done.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
My Cycling Log says 1200 miles to early June, until I got bored and gave up logging - and that doesn't include my very short commute. Add about 800 for LonJoG, another 400 or so on commutes and probably 300 or so in random rides for the second half of the year and I'm in the upper reaches of the 2000s.

For the future, all I know is that between April 2013 and April 2014 we'll be aiming for 2000 tandem miles (numerologically significant), including 100 miles per month.

As below, 7546m - the target of 8000 was doomed the moment I hit black ice and fractured hip/femur on the 1st of December.
Still, I hope to take an experimental outing tomorrow.

Didn't realise you'd done this, Charlie!

I hope things heal swiftly and properly for you - 7546 miles is still pretty damn Good. Better than my meager 3500 miles anyway...

6,801 miles.

Gutted about December though - easily the lowest mileage ever for a month, as I've taken time out for a dodgy knee as well as the weather being a disgrace.

Happy New year one and all.

102 miles, well the title of the thread is 'this year'. That's me doubled the national annual average in 2 days, main target achieved, I can rest now for 363days

Sorry to drift off-topic. Thank you each. I haven't had or been offered any physio - they just told me to take it easy. At the moment it's still hurting a little to walk the 3 miles a day my present commute entails. On the other hand I took the Brompton out for a wee spin to the shops on NYD, and it was OK. So what's doing more harm - 60 minutes walking, or less than 15 gentle minutes on a bike that the equivalent distance would take me? I really have no idea.

Hey Charlie!

That's a surprise. I've just trawled back through your postings and found the posting that first described your injury. I think you need to seek professional advice regarding the wisdom of cycling. The loading on the fracture site can be very different when cycling as opposed to walking.

Take it easy and hope to see you on a FNRttC in April
