In this age of streaming, I rarely record anything.
Same here!I still refer to recording stuff as "taping" it.Which is now sadly impossible as I have Sky and they want you to stream everything.
Always meant to watch that but it goes back 20 years or something. Is there a good season to start at as a beginner, or would I need to watch from S1E1?
Nah, it's from the new days, so that Snoopy can't tell what you watch when, profile you and target yet more intrusive advertising at you.what is this recording of which you speak papa? Is it another thing from the olden days before streaming via iplayer?
(sorry - couldn't resist!)
A couple of years go, Jo and I started on S1E1 and worked our way through every episode of Silent Witness over the course of a couple of months. It's interesting how it's morphed from very much a pathology-based show ("well-nourished male, petechial haemorrhaging") in the early Amanda Burton episodes into a more general crime-scene-investigation programme. It's mostly nonsense, and there's nearly always a massive overstepping of responsibility or conflict of interests, but it's entertaining nonsense. We found ourselves shouting at the telly, telling them to check for abrasion marks on the corpses' heels, or hyoid fractures!
I can't recommend a particular place to start (except at the very beginning!), but there are some excellent episodes that stick in the memory:
S5E1/2, S8E7/8, S13E7/8, S14E7/8, S23E19/10.
Are you worried that your tinfoil hat might slip? Couldn't care less about advertisers. The worst case scenario is that I might see something that I might find useful. I'm not sure why this is seen as pernicious. Are you still streaming and letting them know your peccadilloes for free? How quaint! Oh well, it could be worse, you could be using a subscription service and actually paying to help advertisers target you.
Thanks for the reminder of Reacher. Brain-out tele at its finest.
I thought it was pretty good brain dead TV :-)Dreadful, brain dead TV.
It's ironic that you accuse me of tin foil hat because one of the problems with targeted advertising is political ads pushing conspiracy theories they think you'll believe. And even commercial advertisers can offer you higher prices because your data profile predicts you'll pay them. But this is a bit off topic so here's a link for more info: Targeted ads are a problem—here’s why | TechRadar – https://www.techradar.com/computing/cyber-security/targeted-ads-are-a-problemheres-whyAre you worried that your tinfoil hat might slip? I haven't seen a single one of those on Amazon Prime. I have seen an advert for Nike Sport running their women in sport campaign. Also ads for other Prime shows, one for a vitamin supplement and any others were so irrelevant I've forgotten them. Either way, if they are targeting their ads they are doing a crap job. I have never seen a political advert on Prime. It's ironic that you accuse me of tin foil hat because one of the problems with targeted advertising is political ads pushing conspiracy theories they think you'll believe.
Great Pottery Throw Down on C4. Lovely TV.
