Really enjoyed the first episode of the new series of The Last Kingdom, which has carried on as it left off and is probably the best show on terrestrial TV at the moment.

We're quite taken with Taken on Amazon Prime - it's nothing ground breaking but it's entertaining enough for what it is and better than a lot of the dross on the mainstream channels. Finally managed to watch an episode of Goliath, which looks like it's going to become another show to watch while they finally get round to showing the second part of the second series of the excellent Lucifer

And last but not least, Top Gear on BBC2, which I so much better than the last series that it's untrue.

Vera - 60 minutes of programme crammed into two hours to allow a frankly ridiculous amount of adverts. At one point there were 3 separate ad breaks within 24 minutes...Sorry ITV, that's the last time i watch anything "live" on your channel.

Recorded LoD to watch later.
can't say I was overly impressed myself but I wouldn't have went as far a 'clunker'. Thought the last series was excellent apart from the last 5 minutes when it was just silly ................'
Absolutely!! The first 2 series were really good although the second was a bit difficult to work out, it seemed to have multiple plots, some of which unravelled in series 3 though. I thought the third series was okay, but as you say it got silly at times and the final scene was just ridiculous. We tend to record these multi episode dramas and binge watch them in the last couple of weeks to avoid prolonging the suspense, and also as I tend to forget what has happened if I leave it too long between episodes so won't be watching series 4 for a few weeks yet.

Welcome to my screensaver. I spend a fair bit of time every summer lying on my back looking up at those cliffs - my sister in law lives just up the road...we visit several times a year.

This weekend I've been mostly watching sets from the 6 Music Festival.

Future Islands... terrible, terrible, terrible.
Sparks... excellent as usual. They're the band that Queen could have been.
Goldfrapp... good but only did one song from their debut album.
Sleaford Mods... shouty shouty brilliance.
Warpaint... it's like the 80s never ended. They remind me of The Cure.
Ride... really rather boring
Jesus & Mary Chain... was never a big fan but enjoyed this.

...plenty more to watch :music:

We're through Hand of God with the last episode tonight. I read it's not going to make it to a third series which is a real shame because it's been excellent, I think there was one episode early on which as a bit flat but apart from that it's first-rate telly, gripping stuff.

I've never bothered with Line of Duty before, but gave tonight's opening episode a go. What a clunker! Risible script and terrible acting. Surely it was better than that before, considering its good reviews?
I've liked the previous series which were entertaining and reasonably subtle, police misconduct investigations, with the main thrust being on the misconduct rather than the actual crime.
This seems to be a melodrama of far-fetched proportions which is all too familiar, A bleedin' Texas chainsaw massacre in the first episode FFS.

Still working my way through all the 6 Music festival performances... but had a change of scenery with Anne and Line of Duty.

Anne is a new adaptation of Anne of Green Gables. I almost turned it off after 10 mins because it was dreary and dull, but after 90 mins i'm kind of captivated by it.

Line of Duty... I thoroughly enjoyed series one and two, series three was getting too big for its boots and from what i've seen so far of series four, it's going to be garbage.

It'll be a real shame if they wreck Line Of Duty, as said above the first two were excellent and the third was watchable.

Should have kept it on BBC2 and under the radar..
