"Designated Survivor"

If they had called it "Jack Bauer is the fricking President" I would have watched it sooner!

Finished the series, as expected they didn't wrap it up and left it open for another series. IMO they should've wrapped it up.

The chances of funding another series is very low, the quality of story, direction and production is much better in 24, Shooter, Dirk Gently, etc. It could've been good, but it seems they blew the budget on Jack Bauer and got the catering staff to do the rest. The plot has enough on it for one series, unless they completely replenish direction and production this duck is dead.

I must admit I gave up half way through the first episode.

Just watching the final episode of Travelers. I've really enjoyed this and hope there will be a second season. Another great series from Netflixs

Still Open All Hours - the worst (so far) of what has been a pretty dire selection of Christmas 'entertainment' on the major channels.
The last series was dire so expectations were low, but even then it still managed to disappoint.

World's Strongest Man. I've loved this for years and now it seems to be getting a bigger following because of Thor "The Mountain" Bjornssen, not only is he an absolute monster but his involvement in Game of Thrones is probably the highest profile of any strong man.

Watching Eddie Hall deadlift half a ton and Big Loz become Europe's Strongest Man the other night was pretty incredible.

One of Us. Halfway through and it's a thoroughly grim affair. The cast is phenomenal which helps, it could easily have been melodramatic twaddle but it's elevated beyond that by their abilities.

I'm sure I read on here that it was based on a true story, was it you that mentioned it @User13710 or am I confused with a different programme?

We've just binge watched the first two series of a drama called Bitten. It's about werewolves and it was brilliant in that terribly awful way American shows are.
I heartily recommend it.
Watched the first series of that but gave up... it's just feuding gangsters but they've replaced the mobs with packs.

Currently enjoying series two of Daredevil... it's a lot better than the mostly hum-drum first series.

...have i missed any decent christmas ghost stories this year... not really noticed any?

Watching the xmas lectures, pretty good this year , it's all about energy.

seems a shame that a program thats meant to encourage kids to take an interest in science is tucked away on bbc4 at 8pm

A blind girl who disappeared seven years ago returns to her home town, able to see again. The series is mostly about the discovery of what happened to her, with echoes of Stranger Things and the excellent BBC Three series "Thirteen", albeit with more of a spiritual edge - and a nice turn in its final parts.

Doctor Who Christmas Special (iPlayer)
Enjoyable enough - Capaldi's Doctor seems to have become slightly more wacky, and I was as surprised as anyone to find that I enjoyed Matt Lucas' appearance. Good stuff.

I might be wrong but I thought the series is just on a mid season break !?
