Gary: Tank Commander - 8/10 (All 3 series on Netflix)

Follows Gary and his army pals in a mockumentary/sitcom style. Absolutely hilarious.

Later ripped off (quite well) by Bluestone 42 which I'd also recommend.

Transpotting Live on BBC4.

I can't tell if this is serious or satire, but it's very compelling to watch... helped along by Peter Snow who just gets so enthusiastic about what he's doing. If he presented 'Paint Drying Live' it would be simply superb

Mr Robot (Prime Instant Video)
Good computer hacking/pschological thriller - just the last episode to go now.

Musketeers (Iplayer)
Still enjoying this, although I think it seems unsure of whether it's gritty post watershed fare, or swashbuckling Saturday tea time business at times. Possibly my favourite tv theme tune as well.

Vikings (Prime Instant Video)
About three episodes of this watched so far - I get the feeling that it's setting up at this stage, but interesting enough to want to see where the story is going.

Sense8

I'm 5 or 6 episodes into this now and starting to get frustrated. It's a neat idea (clusters of 8 people are linked together) but the explanation of everything is so drawn out that it's becoming annoying.

That said, there's a great diversity of characters, and interesting exploration of motivations and desire so perhaps it's not the right show to binge on, better to take time and think about it a bit more I suppose.

Also I wonder how much of the transgender character reflects the Wachowski's own experiences.

Definitely a series that seemed better as a whole, once watched, for me. It did go at a ponderous pace at times, but I'm looking foward to the next series (afaik they're making a second).

Ponderous is a good word, and fits well with how I feel about the show. I can see why they've done it, but I feel like they didn't really need the sci fi linking thing to tell the stories, which are interesting enough to stand up without it.

Just finished watching Netflix's new original series Stranger Things... and it's superb .

In short it's a homage/tribute to all those classic movies from the 80's - ET, The Goonies, It, Fire Starter and such like. Image Stephen Spielberg meets Stephen King, and if that sounds like fun to you, you'll absolutely love this.

9/10

Once that actually starts to pay off, it gets a lot more interesting (imo). I do think one of the problems that it has is to do with parcelling out the screen time roughly equally - because inevitably there are stories that you find less interesting than the others.

Penny Dreadful

Loving the third (and sadly final) series so far. The group of core characters has been split up but it feels as though a reunion and final showdown is on the cards. Eva Green is absolutely fantastic, in fact all the performances are but she treads the line between vulnerability and menace brilliantly. Patti LuPone as Dr Seward is an interesting one too.

I'm digging out all the classics they've pulled characters from for a reading marathon when I'm done.
