Call the midwife  courtesy of my wife

Plummy voiced, funny vocabulary, weepy sentimental claptrap music.

,
Just heard two classic lines....
Nurse to Mr Babayaro (sp) Nigerian sailor, stricken with Leprosy...
'If I may interject Mr Babayaro, I would be of the opinion that would not be a good idea'
FFS ....

Earlier, the same nurse as she found him huddled in a cellar type structure...
'Forgive the intrusion Mr Babayaro, I have heard you may be in need of medical assistance'

Oh fer Chrissakes :banghead:

I even asked my 87 year old mum during the last series....
'Mum, they didn't REALLY talk like that in the 1950/60s did they '

'I don't remember it that way' she replied.

And the sentimental music continues

The End of the F***ing World is absolutely fecking brilliant.... from the two leads to the detectives following them, and from the down-to-earth dialogue to its perfect soundtrack. 10/10 and i haven't even watched the last two episodes yet.

Its the apocalypse. In this nihilistic vision of our doom, murder and police corruption escalate concurrently.

It’s good but it is flawed. Several plot points are completely irrelevant to the premise, or totally unbelievable. Nevertheless the acting and direction holds well. Ends a little weak, but obviously because they decided to set up for another series or two.

Not one for the depressives amongst us.

6/10

Another obvious actual sci fi book behind this one, as it has a coherent storyline actually based in science.

It’s glamorous, well put together, thought provoking, plot, direction, etc but I am left with one unanswered question:

Is this actually mainstream snuff porn?

8/10

Mad Men update.

Deep into series 6 and it's back to being brilliant as the men's comfortable, traditional world is falling apart; I'm particularly liking Joan's Avon storyline. I suppose series 5 was necessary to get us to this point but lord it was difficult to get through!

Thanks for the encouragement @User13710!

Blitzed my way through Psychoville over the last week, it's on Netflix and is disappearing at the end of this month.

I really enjoyed it again, but I don't think it's as sharp as League of Gentlemen or Inside Number 9. It's still way above most comedy writing the BBC has put out, it just lacks... something, and I'm not really sure what it is.

That said, The Silent Singer is truly one of the creepiest things I've ever seen.
