but im thinking this may be wrong? should i be eating before i ride in the morning?

reason i ask is i start to feel really drained on Weds,. thurs and friday mornings so much mylegs are shot near enough straight away.

I would say 'nothing', I do 10 miles early in the morning with no breakfast, like you I have something once there.
There again I too am knackered by Wednesday ^_^

hehe, so looks like im doing it right
Well I didn't quite say that but it's what I do

How long have you been cycling? It's more likely you just need to get yourself 'bike fit' in a few months time you'll be doing the 6 miles and not even think about it, or you'll start arriving at work a bit quicker.

I also have my breakfast after the commute. In my case this is between 24 and 30 miles, which is 70 to 90 minutes riding time, and there's enough glycogen in the body in the morning to just about cover that. I am pretty hungry by the time I get my breakfast.

Feeling tired by Wednesday is an issue of accumulated fatigue, it is not a nutrition issue. The more you ride, the more resistant to accumulated fatigue you will become.

My commute is 13 miles each way, which I do two or three times a week by bike. I have a cereal breakfast at about 0615 and I've got the wheels rolling by about 0715 to 0730, with no excess tiredness. I've not tried going without a breakfast, and I feel I'm better off with a bit of fuel before I start.

I would say it wouldn't make a lot of odds- unless you're TT'ing it to work.
I used to ride on empty for 12 miles to work until recently, now have a small bowl of cereal just for substance before and something when I get to work as well.

A small commute does, in my opinion, not warrant any change in your normal eating habbits. In my case this means, eat your normal breakfast which should get you through to lunch before you set off.

That could do a bit of damage to your throat!!

Seriously it's up to you. I now have muesli but that's more to do with trying to be generally healthy than commuting. For many years I'd just have a coffee then be on my 10 mile commute.

I think the time of your journey can make a difference too, for me I have to leave at 4.45am so to have breakfast at 4 ish is a big no no, if I had a more 9-5 type job I might have something before I leave.

I have a cup of tea before I set off and can do anywhere up to 3hrs of riding before I get to work. I then eat my breakfast at my desk, which is mainly fruit and some of those porridge biscuit things. Must admit though some mornings (like today) I have little energy

Not surprised the miles you ^_^
Six miles hardly needs anything, helps work off the previous evening meal, but do eat regular through the day, small and often is better than large and infrequent.
