New chain on the ridgeback and it's Maiden ride. Rides nice and firm but that maybe the deep section radial rc31 wheels. Gears are too high for longer rides as no bail out gear lowest is 39/32 not low enough - triple chainset??!

Spa's own-brand cheapie touring triple crankset - 46 / 38 / 28 - should do the job very nicely. It's about 45 notes iirc. Plus you have a choice of crank lengths.

Will I need a new BB going from double to triple.
In my quest for lower gears I have used a triple crank to make a compact double. Middle and outer 36/48 . This set up should be OK with the existing B/B .
I have plans to use a triple to make a gravel type 30/46 chain set , inner and middle this time.

Yet another pair of Superstar Components Nano pedals were delivered last week and I finally got round to fitting them to my Giant Rapid this morning. All three flat bar bikes and the 29er now have the Nanos fitted.

Nice - like the thinking ! I’ve got 3 pedal types **Clip-ins, half toe strap / cage and plain platforms - for ‘race’, commuter and MTB bikes respectively. I think I’m about to go for identical saddles on all though….

I've got identical saddles on all three useable bikes (two Charge Ladle, one Madison Leia*) and identical pedals on the roadie and hybrid (Decathlon's own brand single-sided SPD). Wellgo flats on the MTB, as that's what I prefer.

* Charge Ladle = Madison Leia = same saddle but slightly different cosmetically.

It's a foot position consistancy thing - Nano pedals on the flat bars/29er due to the large platform area, SPDs on the road bikes. As for saddles, I have the Charge Spoon on all 8 bikes.

Technically speaking it was last night, but I needed to remove an internal door at the weekend, but couldn't as some clown has striped the thread of a screw on the auto close fixing....

so I returned last night armed with drill and drilled the head off the screw. Not keen on the auto closer in any event so just removed the whole thing.
