Three coats of top coat on frame where I’ve been sorting some paint chips and surface rust spots. All dry to touch. Now leaving that 24 hours to cure. Have some clear lacquer to apply after that. Photo a bit blurry.

I fixed my coffee machine. My son was visiting for the first time since I got it. He put beans where ground coffee should go (the machine can use either but they have to go in the correct compartment).
One of the misplaced coffee beans had dislodged a water pipe.
To get to it I had to take the top off. To take the top off I had to take the front and back off. To take the front off I had to take the sides off.
It was 12 screws altogether
It only took a few seconds to fix once I had it apart.

In the last couple of weeks I have noticed the v-brakes dragging occasionally on my everything bike. This morning's snow was the perfect opportunity to sort this out.

This was the first bike I ever built, back in 2019, and I'd had fun assembling wheels from rims, hubs and spokes. I'd used the cheapest v-brakes from ebay.

Today I could see that there were several problems. Rims no longer true, cables tired, tyres worn flat and v- brake return springs weak.

So, new cables, rims trued and worn Marathon+ replaced with something more forgiving. Shimano v-brakes ordered.

With a bit of maintenance this bike will outlive me.

Seeing your photo (great bike BTW) inspired me to finally get round to swapping my handlebars over on a similar bike. It had butterfly bars on, which were OK but I've been getting pins and needles in my hands even on short rides. I have a set of On One "Mary" bars (in truth I've had them over ten years) but never fitted them, so today I decided to swap them over. This also allowed me to fit a set of Ergon grips from the spares box. Haven't finished the swap yet as I don't have any MTB brake cables (loads of road brake cables), so will have to nip out tomorrow to get some.
Before the swap.

Puzzle game procrastinator!
My MTB fettling continues, with a bit more urgency because I want to use the bike on my MTB forum ride on the 25th of this month...

The brake mount and new tyre are on the way.
Arrived and fitted.

The old rear disk was too big for the brake calliper mounted on the mount adapter so I pinched a 160 mm disk off a spare wheel. I will fit the calliper tomorrow. Hopefully that will be okay now.

I will check the wheel bearings and freehub while I am waiting for other parts to arrive.
The front wheel is fine. I think that the rear is okay too. I'll double-check once the brake has been set up.

I had a quick look at the cassette and chainrings. I might be able to get away with them as they are for a while but I feel inclined to put new parts on while I am at it.

I have put 2 mismatched SPD pedals on for now (one has a platform, the other doesn't). I had forgotten that I pinched the old pedals for another bike. That will probably annoy me so maybe I will buy a new pair.

The spending on this MTB fettling is increasing all the time, but I suppose it is cheap compared to buying a new bike!

Quick clean of the chain on the All-City after yesterdays rain.

Gave my wife’s car a full valet today, as I’m driving to London in it tomorrow.
She doesn’t look after her car and it was filthy inside & out.
We’ve owned the Fiat 500 since new and it has covered 129,000 miles. Still drives well and looks pretty good.
Just need to get some alloy wheel cleaner.
