The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
I don't think we have a single non-LED in the house (*maybe in the fridge?). Ceiling downlights in every room, no lampshades except on a couple of table lamps (*these have energy saving bulbs. Oh, and 2 fluorescent tubes in the garage). We are both in our mid 70's. Haven't we adapted to modern times well? :thanks:

I wish Maz would, the other day she was doing some baking and had the lamp in the glass fronted kitchen cabinet on (40w Halogen) and the cooker hood lamp on (40w filament) because she didn't want the main kitchen lights on..............now they are 3 3w LED bulbs (GU10 I think) so instead of using 9w of leccy she had 80w being burnt.
I've tried explaining this too many times to mention but it seems to go in one ear and out the other.:surrender:

I find these issues resolve themselves because LEDs last so much longer than halogens. Our cooker hood lamps used to fail regularly, but I haven't had to replace one since putting LEDs in last time.

GT MTB with stuck front derailleur and, as it turned out, a nine speed rear shifter for an eight speed cassette with frayed cable. And the chain was too long. And the rear derailleur was swinging loose.

Bloody front mech design seems optimised for collecting crap and seizing up. Shimano design. Had similar problems with them before. Fair play, with enough oil and a vice it will loosen off again, but sheesh!
Anyway, rant off.

Catching up on various almost finished projects to clear out the workshop; one bike needed a chain guard which a client had saved from a scrapped example, saving us an order, and a fresh donation needed it's lights sorted. This was a bottle dynamo which I loathe as there are so many things to go wrong; it worked, then didn't. The same client suggested that I'd connected the poles incorrectly, which wouldn't explain why the thing had suddenly stopped working. As he has more success than me with these things, I asked him to come and glower at it; as soon as he came within a metre it worked.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
installed the standard compact chainrings to the TDF from @IanSmithCSE , a bit of an issue is that the FD needs raising and the bolt head is worn so badly i cant undo it
I think you dodged a bullet there so i am debating what to do .

Installed mudguards on the Marin which is still upside down waiting for the headstock to come apart by soaking and heat.

If you have a replacement bolt, you could saw a slot for a screwdriver in the head? Of there’s always mole grips. Good luck?
