How long is the waiting list for a new Morgan Plus Six?
From Morgan Motors themselves,
"The typical waiting time for a Morgan car is between 6 and 12 months."

Most cafes I visit now have ramped up their prices. It used to be £5 for coffee and cake, now the cake is anywhere around £3.60+ and the coffee £3+. So I've decided to cut out the cake and only have a drink, which is often tea nowadays. Shame, as a large part of my reason for cycling was the cake.

There's always money for cake. That's an 'essential', not a luxury.

Cafe's near me are nudging the top end of £5.50-5.90 but none have gone over £6 yet. And the one I use on the Saturday club ride is £3.55 for coffee and cake.

Bed and breakfasts have gone crazy here. I had got used to occasionally making little overnighters to the coast as a way of extending my cycling range but it's too expensive now.

Most hostels don't seem to have re-opened properly since Covid and most campsites seem to only want camper vans and caravans now.

Younger ones in their 30's, 40', even 50's think I exaggerate when I tell them about the 'leccy' going off for hours on end and having to move round the house in the winter months with the aid of a flickering candle.

I’m 51 and I’m remember this bit of the 70s although torches had been been invented by then

Funny working hours and needing to keep warm without light and heat made for some social fun.

Never equalled the old paraffin lanterns that students nicked to provide ambiance and a fire risk in their digs.
Now that you've mentioned it, I think we might've had one when the miners strike was on in the early 1970's. 🤔

Or maybe I'm thinking about the paraffin fueled heater we had at the bottom of the stairs, to supposedly heat the whole of the upstairs.

I shouldn't mock how we survived the winters 50 and beyond years ago. If I remember rightly it cost about £3,500 to buy central heating for a terraced house back in the 1970's. Probably not much less than a years pay for many.🤔

That's as much as the entire house cost in the early 70's, and yes, when my dad left the RAF the job he got was on 4,000 a year, in I think 1973.

My mum and dad's house cost £850 in August 1963. I remember as it was on 'the house deeds' I saw before mum was sadly shipped out to an old folks home for her remaining days. Ten years later it was probably worth (Is being 'worth' something so significant these days?🤔) the same as central heating for the place would've cost.
