Discussion at work regarding if and when the car manufacturers will tank if no one has spare change for a shiny new motor

Have been expecting a down turn in the sector ever since covid struck, but if anything due to the shortages there's never been a better time to be employed in the industry.
My firm has a massive interest in it too, being a major supplier of parts....

More than likely majority of new card are lease / PCP so they'll still keep churning them out.

except they aren't as they are short of chips. at least 9 months wait list for most new cars.

i imagine parts manufacturers should be benefitting as the generic "fleet" is getting older thus should need more replacement parts to keep older cars running that would have been swapped out for new...

Mmm, the 'Poundbakery' in Accrington now seems to sell one, not 2 items for a pound and some single Items are £1.50. 🤔 It's always busy though. I bought 2 items today for £2 and asked for the receipt as I had to pay by card which I hate doing for items less than a tenner, but I didn't have enough coinage in my tweed and leather purse.🧐 Why ask for the receipt you may ask. Well, I'm not saying I don't trust the seller when you pay by card, but for peace of mind I don't want that thought at the back of my mind that they've mistakenly put a 0 after the £2.

Our Dentist Surgery have decided they're knocking NHS patients on the head (more money in teeth straightening), 6000 of us struck off the books including me and my family.

We're looking at monthly plans now, not cheap at all..

Well, it's £15 a month + joining fee for 2 examinations and 2 hygienist visits.

I used to get wisdom teeth x-rayed every 2 years so God knows what that will cost now!.

But the bullet and signed up, to be fair my dentist was always right with me so hopefully she still will be.

What can you do..

Sounds a similar plan to mine…which includes X-rays as needed (at least every 2 years). Ask them what is covered if it’s not in the paperwork

Thanks, I'll have a chat when I have my checkup.

Securing a place was first priority so one less thing to worry about.

Often simply paying as you go can be a bit cheaper as there is no "middleman" to pay like AXA or another insurance company.

The current climate hasn’t changed my perspective. If I think “ you’re taking the pish” then I won’t pay it. That could be a can of pop or the price of a house when we were searching a few years ago!
Taking the oiss changes not, irrelevant of the initial price.
