Pikehall Y not festival today, my son on drums at 15.15 with his mates in ‘The Longmen’ playing to the biggest ever crowd he’s ever seen of thousands.
Main stage too!

Went to see 'The Manfreds' in Loughborough, superb, Paul Jones may be 82 but still got it and what a fantastic Harmonica player. Tom McGuiness (later of McGuiness Flint) was back playing guitar (He'd played with Manfred Mann back in the 60's) so they played a couple of his songs and some of Paul Jones solo numbers

I finally got to see ABBA Voyage last night. All very clever, staging fantastic, good live band and backing singers, a little cheesy at times but hey!
If you like ABBA even a little bit, definitely worth going. We had reasonably priced seats to one side, other than the band mostly being on the other side of the huge stage area, excellent view of everything. And there was a LOT going on!!
A very enjoyable non stop 90 mins or so

I saw an advert for it recently, didn't really have a clue about the show but it does look seriously impressive. I may have to get involved.

Lancaster music festival is upon us... 300+ acts, 50+ venues all around the city. Started with The Deal, a punk and rock covers band in the JoG pub, followed by Uptown Monotones, and Austrian beatbox trio playing in the former prison at Lancaster Castle (below), followed by SkaFace, a ska covers band in the pub called The Pub.

A friend of my fiancée couldn't go to Fleeting Rumours, the North's premier Fleetwood Mac tribute band, so we inherited his tickets to see them at Whitley Bay's Playhouse. I've never been to an "organised" tribute gig before, but have seen plenty of pub efforts ranging from the abysmal to almost indistinguishable from the real thing.

Thoroughly enjoyable gig where they played all the hits you'd expect and a few you wouldn't. Great musicians and general atmosphere, though "Stevie" didn't have quite the same presence, but then who could, really?

They have quite a few tribute band gigs there and on the strength of this one I'll hopefully check some more out.

So many little and big gigs over the weekend I can't remember half of them... a harpist performing in pram shop, a couple of fiddlers playing in a corridor, a strange Japanese stringed thing, a cello played like a guitar, a handful of more mainstream bands and ended the weekend watching with Lovely Eggs last might.

I love LMF but i'm glad when it's over and i can just relax again.

Did you happen to catch the name of the harpist? It's a small world and it may have been my sister, or very possibly someone she knows.
