Lol...must have been, not sure why I thought of Tarantino and him.Thin Red Line is not a bad film either 😁

If what I've read of The Thin Red Line is correct, you're lucky to see Adrian Brody in it anyway as they cut most of his part (and didn't tell him  !)

Watched that film about Stalin's death. Surprisingly called The Death of Stalin.

Didn't seem as good as the first time.
Funny in an odd way.

Watching the silly manoeuvering of characters reminded me of the corporate goings on that I observed.

The Cockleshell Heroes.

Saw it was due on and that prompted me to find it on the app.

One of my favourite films. Trevor Howard and Jose Ferrer didn't get on and clashed on set, and this is doubtless why there is such a brilliant tension between the two characters.

And who can forget the wonderful scene where Trevor Howard orders Ruddick to sort out the problem with his "lodger" and the poor beat bobby wonders along and isn't quite sure what to make of it.

Reading this has just reminded me of something.

A few years ago I read one of Al Murray's pub landlord books, and in it there's a section where he lists his top ten war films, Where Eagles Dare obviously.

And he comes out with a good point which, I can't quote word for word, but it's something along the lines of, 'when there's so many incredible true stories to be told, why do they feel the need to make things up?'

Blue Velvet - 8/10

Probably the most accessible of David Lynch's films so it seemed a reasonable way to ease my fiancée in to his work. It wouldn't work if Hopper and Rossellini weren't totally committed to their warped roles, but fortunately they are.

A typically excellent score from Angelo Badalementi, though Lost Highway is my favourite (and favourite Lynch film) brings an eerie feeling to proceedings and again the film would fall flat without it.

Not my usual choice of film as I'm not really into sci fi much. But seeing as though it was Bong Joo Ho and staring Robert Pattinson that was me and my daughter sorted.Wacky satire with a great cast.Mark Ruffalo as the nutty space coloniser...Trump/Musk parody.Gave us a few laughs and grimaces...all in all not bad,it's no Parasite but worth a watch.

A View To A Kill

Roger Moores final Bond film, its an interesting film. There are some great little sequences - the horse race assasination attempt is a lot better than I remember. But at the same time its got some really off kilter scenes - Zorrin machine gunning dozens of his men to death whilst laughing like an idiot takes you right out of the film. But it is one of the best scored bond films - the soundtrack using an instrumental version of Duran Duran's hit song to great effect.

Better than Octopussy, worse than For Your Eyes Only its a ok finish to Rogers Moore's tenure as Bond.

Yep, agree with that. Both Grace Jones and Christopher Walken are great casting.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - 6.5/10

One of the better romantic dramas I've seen with WW2 as a backdrop, mostly because it doesn't batter you over the head with over wrought sentimentality and completely implausible scenarios.

It's a bit twee in places and it's not particularly original but all the performances are strong, there is some incentive cinematography and the overall story is engaging.

Think a 5 might be more reasonable.
"Twee" is a gentle word to use
