The Cowboys. One of John Wayne's last movies, playing an ageing cattleman forced to hire schoolboys to help him take his herd 400 miles thru' the badlands. Way better than that makes it sound!

Side effects. Jude Law, Caterine Zeta Jones (although CZJ probably did her scenes in a day).
Jude Law is a doctor that prescribes drugs "on a trial" that leads to a murder.
It took a looooong time to get going but I stuck with it and was pleased I did at the end.

Watched Boyhood at the Everyman Cinema in Walton.
I predict Oscars for this film.
Why can't all films be as good as Boyhood, and why can't all cinemas be as good as Everyman?

What did you think? Despite the great reviews, and the excellent performances and the usual intricate sets and cinematography you expect from Wes Anderson, I didn't think it was as good as Moonrise Kingdom.
I liked it....(Budapest Hotel)
Last night it was....
The Book Thief. An altogether enjoyable movie and that's how I watched it as a movie..... a statement of history or the holocaust it is not

Cronos

Guillermo del Toro's full length directorial debut is a unique take on the vampire genre. Intelligent, thoughtful and well acted, there's not much in the way of gore or violence but it's really not that sort of vampire film. Ron Perlman is particularly fantastic.

8/10.

I love Cronos, but then again Del Toro can do no wrong for me.Check out The Devils Backbone ( a cracker of a ghost story) and of course Pans Labyrinth.

I've got both of them, and watched them many times.

However, there are two words which strike doubt into my heart: Pacific Rim. What an absolute disaster. A shame he chose that instead of persevering with his vision for The Hobbit. Which I suspect would have been superior to Peter Jackson's bloated effort.
