I went to a late night post-pub viewing when it was originally released. My pal and I were a bit the worse for wear and found it very hard to follow. We eventually found out that it wasn't just the booze to blame... The cinema manager stopped the projection, came to the front, and apologised for mixing up the order of the reels of film. We were invited back the following night to watch them in the correct sequence!

Its not a lot easier to follow when shown in the correct order.

The Contractor.
Chris Pine fails to take the military-industrial baton from Bourne in a dull tale of private military contractors fool enough to kill other PMCs without thinking that they will be next.

Pearl. A bit slow and moody, a great performance by the lead actress, but ultimately a bit boring. Some horror themes were touched upon but had they cut out an hour of her trying to be Dorothy Gale then they would have had time to do something a lot more horrific

I gave up on that after 40 minutes.

Into The Deep - 2/10

I didn't have much, if any expectations of this beyond "It's probably going to be bad". And it is. There's about 30 minutes of actual film here and an hour of meaningless flashbacks featuring Richard Dreyfuss who I assume they spent all their money on to give this some kind of legitimacy.

All the standard tropes of a shark disaster film are here, played out badly with some truly awful CGI and weird camera work.

What's most bizarre is Dreyfuss' piece to camera over the final credits about "shark conservation", which veers all over the place and is borderline racist at times. There's no specific message here either, and the film definitely didn't have a "let's save sharks" vibe so why the film makers did this is beyond me.

Not that I needed a excuse to watch it but with the passing of the great Gene Hackman we watched The Royal Tenenbaums last night....class ❤️

Also watched Triangle of Sadness in the week..didn't think I'd really like it but was won over, made me laugh anyway.Starring Woody Harelson it's basically a satire about the super rich.On iPlayer and worth a watch.

I'll be watching French Connection this weekend in a similar tribute of sorts. It was the first "adult" (paging @Fnaar) film I watched as a young'un so there are a lot of fond memories.
