Watched Tenet on TV the other night....mad how you re watch a film because it's on TV even though you have it on DVD !
Anyway it's always worth another watch...it's not like your ever going to figure it out 🤣
Also watched Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind last night....can't believe it's 20 years old
Both great films 😁

We binged 6 of the x-men films over the weekend. I don't think I'd seen any of them all of the way through. Very good. We watched them in chronological order which I think is the best way (i.e. not by release date)

I enjoyed The Truman Show, but seem to recall Eternal Sunshine being rather better. Would like to see it again...

The Dead Don't Hurt - 6.5/10

Viggo Mortensen's second effort behind the lens and it's a very fine one. A little slow in places but it's more of a character based Western than the gung ho start would have you believe, which may explain why a few people left after about 15 minutes...

The Persian Version - 6/10

Had meant to see this at the cinema but missed this touching tale of an Iranian family displaced to America, presented as a true(ish) story by the writer and director.

It's not without its flaws, one section in particular is far too long and takes the energy totally out of the film, but it's a lot of fun, really colourful whilst being both tragic and funny.

I've read a couple of reviews criticising the male characters for being flat and cartoonish, which misses the point of a film by a woman about women, completely.

Oh and it's another film which has been hopelessly advertised, with the ad I saw making it look like a silly rom-com in the vein of My Big Fat Greek Wedding, which I do love, but this is a far more mature film.

I tried watching Tenet but couldn't understand the words they were saying, let alone the plot.

Rebel journalist uncovers famine in 1930s Stalinist Ukraine and no-one wants to know.
Worthy, plodding, horrific with lots of terribly good acting.
It should be forgettable but isnt which is rare.
Winner of the Grand Prix Golden Lions and the Golden Kangaroo and nominated for the Golden Bear and Golden Frog.

I wasn't really bothered about watching this as I'm a bit indifferent toward The Beatles, but my wife wanted to so we did. I'm glad I did - it was a warm rom-com with surprisingly engaging music, yet not being a full on homage to the Beatles. The premise of the film is obviously nonsense but makes for some humorous asides. The love story is pretty formulaic but the two protagonists play it well. I assume that the lead actor (Himesh Patel) did the singing that he is portrayed as doing - if so, he did a great job of that too [I looked it up, he did indeed sing and play all the instruments].

A solid 8/10 from me, definitely exceeded expectations.

I'll tell you the plot, but it's not really that important, man gets killed by the baddies, son grows up being trained by a master, son then sets out for revenge.

Plenty of ropey dialogue, and stacks of comedy kung fu, absolutely brilliant.

It's got a spaghetti western style title soundtrack, then some 70s American cop show boom chicca wah wah during some of the fight scenes, splendid! 😀

Colors of Evil: Red (Kolory zła: Czerwień). Year 2024. Length 2 hours. IMDb 6.3/10.

Polish psychological thriller/detective movie based on the 1st book of the apparently bestselling series of the author Malgorzata Sobczak.
A mutilated body of a young woman is found on a beach. Similar murder happened 15 years ago. Unusual tandem of a prosecutor and victim's mother tries to solve the murder.

I liked it. If anybody likes to read detective stories of Scandinavian authors - this movie appeared similar to them.

I don't know it the movie is available in English yet.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die - 6/10

You know what you're getting with these and from that perspective it doesn't disappoint: it's a big bucket of big dumb popcorn that if you really don't need to think about. However, the humour feels a bit forced at times and some of the fancy camera work actually detracts from the action rather than enhancing it.

The Michael Bay cameo was a nice touch.
