(A?) Quiet place. Seen it years ago but re watched it because the sequel is out on Netflix in a few days. Really liked it, suspense, monster movie but a bit different.

It's been out for a while, so I guess Netflix have only just picked it up?

Great films, and there are a couple more planned.

Millicent Simmonds taught everyone ASL which gives them both a really authentic feel for me.

Inglourious Barstewards.

Rather violent, clever plot, brilliant acting.

But...

Tarrantino's love of the mundane when it comes to dialogue is taken a bit toooo far, and as a result ot doesn't flow terrible well.

Useless fact - Sgt Donny Donowitz is based on me ;)

6.5/10.

Iron Sky.

Nazzies flee to the moon in WWII and return to the Earth in the present day to wreak havoc. Very good comedy drama

8/10.

That was a great film which fully lived up to my expectations. If the bonkers synopsis appeals, you will like this a lot. Whilst it is funny, it is well crafted and played straight as it were. Huge fun

Masterpiece Contemporary: Page Eight

Bill Nighy very unexpectedly not just playing Bill Nighy, in this he's an old MI5 officer with a bit more depth then his usual characters.

Michael Gambon gives his usual value for money as his boss and old university friend, and Ralph Fiennes plays the prime minister in a quite decent film.

A nice steady pace with no guns or car chases, more of a Harry Palmer than James Bond style of film, and well worth a watch on Netflix.

Also released as "The Second Best Exotic Marigold Spy Agency"

Predator.

Worth it for that scene alone where Blaine gets killed and Mack opens up with Old Painless. No man with even a trace of testosterone left can fail to cheer as Bill Duke let's rip.

Sonny Landham positively smoulders, and even Arnold puts in the acting performance of his career. A moder classic worthy of Shakespeare himself, hey nonny nonny.

11/10.

Love all the predator films. Have you seen Prey (a prequel)? Also an excellent watch. Predators was also good, with predator 2 probably the worst but I'd still watch it again.

We've just watched "The Ipcress File" on BBC. It's a 1965 spy film with Michael Caine as Harry Palmer. Much more grubby and down to earth than Bond. I though it stood up rather well. Excellent storytelling, superb photography and rather good John Barry music (who also did Bond scores and theme for various ITV spy series). Wonderfull old cars too. Caine is of course wooden as always, but you can't have everything. Might watch the sequel "Funeral in Berlin" which is also on the beeb.
