Just watched the original 300 Spartans. Quite a good film and interesting to note the number of quotes taken from this film for 300, " We will block out the sun with our arrows". " We will fight in the shade"

Man of Steel.

Far too complicated than it needed to be and far too much flying saucers and alien stuff too. What is wrong with Supes doing Superman stuff like the old days.

I've a notion that some of the lines are actually authentic - or at least are in the contemporary narratives.

My favourite laconic put down is after the Persian King ended a threat to Sparta "..... if I enter your city I will raze it" - The Spartans' reply: "If."

Jesus Town USA.

Another documentary shown on Sky Atlantic. An interesting look at the baffling obsession a town has with putting on a play about the life of Jesus.

To be honest, it wasn't the greatest thing I've ever watched, but it had moments of entertainment and drama. A lot of the folk in it reminded me of those I used to go to church with in America. Nice enough, but ultimately worryingly clueless about how the world actually works, largely because of their sheltered existence.

5/10

Tried to watch The Expendables but gave up after 30 minutes. It was dreadful.

Still, it made me remember that we had the boxset of Deadwood still to watch, so did a couple of episodes of that instead. Yay!

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Having read the book, I'm still not sure how they've managed to make a film out of it. Is it any good? And how f*cked is the time-line?
Ita not bad. I had to watch it twice to get the whole thing, but it was good. And yes, the time line was a bit buggered

The new Walter Mitty film - stunning scenery and feel good glow when you've watched it but dont know why. I enjoyed it but my wife found it boring and went to sleep.
