I watched the first 15 minutes (all I could stomach) and got this utter deja vu feeling of "Shaun of the dead"

Hadn't seen that, but Hot Fuzz and Paul are very funny - they definitely missed the mark with this one

I enjoyed The World's End... it's no Shaun of the Dead but still had plenty of good daft moments. Still haven't got round to watching Paul yet.

Last night i started watching an old Thames TV production called The Tyrant King (1968).... set in and around swinging London's most famous landmarks, with musical interludes from Pink Floyd, The Nice and the like... it's more a promotional tool for London than a gripping & original drama, but great stuff if you like a bit of nostalgic TV.

I just finished watching (again) Inland Empire, a very strange film, but then it's by David Lynch, who doesn't do normal very well .

Das Wochenende. Story about a German RAF member released after 18 years in prison. Spends his first weekend with his ex-lover, her husband, his sister (also ex-RAF) and another ex-RAF'er trying to work out who betrayed him. Very good on many levels.

Also Deux Jours Une Nuit, perhaps un jour too long but entertaining.

Get over the subtittles and go see.

300 - about the Spartan's holding the line at Thermopylae. Started well - much exceeding my expectations, but .the battle - endless slow-mo blood spattered tedium - and for some reason they were being attacked by an army of Orcs from Lord of the Rings - trying to push the mythical element I guess, but didn't really come off. The dialogue was execrable baring a few laconic one-liners. Then dear oh dear, sub-braveheart anachronistic talk of "Freedom" - this was from Spartans FFS. . Just about worth watching, but ultimately disappointing - could have been really good, but sadly wasn't

Check out the sequel.... 300: Rise of an Empire... that's ultimately disappointing right from the start.

Last night i watched Moonrise Kingdom... a film that unfolds like a children's adventure book, because that's what it is. Very enjoyable, slightly surreal, worth a watch.
