One of the few films I've ever stopped watching midway through after its initial promise - Doctor Sleep starring Ewan McGregor. That's surely what must rank as his biggest mistake in recent years? It's supposedly a sequel to The Shining but, for me at any rate, it's unwatchable. Once child murders are shown and treated as necessary to the plot, I lose all interest in it once disgust for its subject matter becomes the defining trait of the movie. It's a -6/10 for me.

The 51st State. A bonkers violent thriller. On My5 player.

Sam Jackson heading up a British cast, shot in Liverpool.
I liked it .9/10

Finally reached Avengers End Game last night. I have to say it was a pretty good wrap-up to the MCU, both in terms of character stories and the over-riding macro storyline. Good mix of action, drama and comedy and some emotion thrown in. I wasn’t overly impressed with the previous all-Avenger movies but this one hit the spot.

Something about a lad called Larry Trotter.

Lots of CGI, some of it quite good. Stuff being split asunder and cleft in twe, but the last time i saw a film with so little actual plot was Quantum of Plotless.

The MCU hasn't finished yet. The next film is Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) which sets the scene for what happened next and then will hopefully be followed starting next year or the year after with:

Black Widow (2021)
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
Eternals (2021)
Spider-Man 3 (2021)
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Captain Marvel 2 (2022)

There was also supposed to be Black Panther 2 in 2022, however with the sad passing of the lead, Chadwick Boseman, it seems unlikely unless they re-cast the part.

Watched the classic 2001 A Space Odyssey. For a film over 50 years old it's timeless.Im a massive Kubrick fan so probally slightly biased 😁 9.5/10

The Sum Of All Fears.

Plot-heavy airport page turner novel ruthlessly culled for the movie which just doesnt flow. Morgan Freeman delivers like a pro. Liev Schreiber does his best as John Clarke but is underused. Ben Affleck does a good Ben Affleck impression.
