Lone survivor. Seen it before, but it's worth a rerun. Gut-wrenching stuff. The weapons drill was excellent (I'm guessing here ), and the whole thing had a very 'real' feel about it, with something of the remorseless dread that I always associate with the original Assault on Precinct 13 - it doesn't matter how many you kill; they don't count the cost, and they just keep coming...

Parasite on Netflix (Korean). IMDB rated it highly. It was ok, a nice chnage from the usual Hollywood stuff, weird ending. Worth a watch if you have enough energy to read the subtitles!

Ghosts of War.

Another WWII meets horror film, starts off well and ups the tension nicely, then a stupid ending makes for a nonsense last twenty minutes.

I'll not tell you how it ends if you want to watch it for yourself, and it's that cack you'd never be able to guess it anyway.

It would've been a 7/10, but overall it's a 5/10.

Think I've hit "that bit" in my watch. Going to finish it, but I think Overlord (also Netflix) is better overall.

Strikes me that "Ghosts..." had a good enough story - wrapping it in the stuff that comes in the last third diminishes it overall.

I'd have quite happily seen them make peace with the ghosts and then fight together to kill more Nazis.

I'm Thinking of Ending Things... Charlie Kaufman.
Expected wierdness and confusion but I enjoyed it.Probally helps that Jessie Buckley plays a lead role ! Love her...aswell as David Thewlis,Toni Collette so a great cast.Im not sure you can explain the film. But I might even watch it again to try and get it...8/10

...and whilst I'm at it, we re-watched Seven the other night, god it's dull.

Going through crap 90's horror films with the kids, already re-watched Scream 1 and 2, last night was Urban Legend. It was ok.
I feel your pain...although I do like Seven.
I had to endure The Festival with my two...had to do the coughing, are you sure you should be watching this ? Better not tell your mum thing.

Next on the list are I know what you did last summer and I still know what you did....I can't even remember them, probably going to be pretty average.

My eldest went to see the Festival at the cinema so I haven't got to bother with that. She tells me that The Invisible Man which is on Sky Prem atm is good, but she also told me that The Haunting of Bly Manor was good and that was utter dirt.

T2 - 8/10

I saw this at the cinema, and remember thinking that I'd need to watch it again to properly appreciate it. Years later, here I am, appreciating it. It's at once a nostalgic nod to the original, and a blend of future Welsh tales, all shot in a hazy, neon disjointed way, which fits well I think. There's no plot particularly, and "purists" will be annoyed that different characters do different things than in the books, but I don't have a problem with that. Killer soundtrack too.

I thought it was a great movie on its own. It may lack pure, raw energy of the first film, but it makes up in the heart department. It is a warmer, more likeable movie and I rate it level with the original.

I don't recall the Welsh element, but a sure 9/10. Great use of Guns-n-Roses, and the storm drain chase scene may be the highlight of Arnie's career :notworthy:

Finished Ghosts of War - slightly better than I thought it would be, but the turn in the last third doesn't work for me.

Double Date (Prime)
Solid slasher/occult horror comedy, with a scene stealing performance from Michael Socha. Gory and funny, if not quite in the top tier of such things.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (Prime)
Joyful and inventive animation in which Spider-Men from several dimensions join together to battle the Kingpin. A lot of fun, with a surprising amount of emotional depth at times, as well as a knowing nod to the repeated nature of the Spider-Man origin story in the filmic canon. Excellent stuff.
