Kingsman - a james bondesque not quite a spoof spy film. Really well done nonsense and pure if undemanding entertainment. Great cast : Colin Firth, Samuel R Jackson, Michael Cain, and directed with wit and frair by the same chap as Kick Ass I think

"oxfords not brogues" is all I'm saying. And I do tend to favour brogues too.

If the pitch for this wasn't "Die Hard in the White House", I'll eat my hat. The film sticks so closely to the formula that the baddies have a geeky, eccentric IT guy who listens to classical music, Tatum's protagonist is down to a Dirty Vest by the midpoint, and an item on the news is used to discover that he has a family member among the hostages (oh, he's also a cop who finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time). For all that though, Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx are great, and if you can overlook a plot hole or seven in favour of enjoying yourself, it's easy to be swept along by it.

Deserves more than the 6/10 it has on IMDB, but 22 Jump Street is still the pinnacle of Tatum's career for me.

Also, there are some freeze frames where Channing Tatum kind of has a look of David Walliams.

2 Guns - 6/10

Double crossing agents who don't know each others mission all being played off against each other. Wasn't really expecting much as I really don't like Denzel "I'm the same guy in everything" Washington, but it cracks along at a good pace, it's pretty funny, the chemistry with Wahlberg works in a Lethal Weapon sort of way and the action is stupidly over the top. I can think of a lot worse ways to spend a couple of hours.

Sicario - The tale of clandestine and questionable operation by the US agencies against a Mexican drug cartel.

Would have been a superb film except for Emily Blunt, who is totally miscast and whose dire performance gives the impression she's just there for the pay check.

Steve Jobs. Right waste of time. Worst 6/10 I've given anything. I like Danny Boyle too but the Steve Jobs film with Ashton Kushner (sp?) was WAY better than this one.

I didn't care for the recent one, but the Kutcher version is an absolute joke! It's basically a two hour advert for Apple. I've seen puddles with more depth.

White House Down = Olympus Has Fallen without the swears and blood.
Our introduction to the protagonists;

Olympus: Bro-y boxing match between Gerard Butler and Mr President
White House: Channing Tatum menaces a nonplussed squirrel.

(I've only started OHF, to be fair, after seeing that it was on Netflix - I promise to give it a proper chance).
