What film did you watch last night?

Star Trek Renegades - awful.

Funded by Trekkies (who also got Chekov and Tuvok on board) in the hope of generating a TV series - not a Klingon's chance in Gre'thor of that happening..

Im Juli. A German film from a few years ago starting Moritz Bliebtreu from Run Lola Run as a Hamburg teacher chasing a girl to Istanbul. Quite funny, and has an interesting Turkish ska tune on the end titles.

38 years ago the first film my now wife and I saw together was Star War. Last night I discovered the script hasn't changed in those 38 years.

I think I've seen The Empire Strikes Back on TV - I know I've seen one other - but haven't seen any others. My impression was this, the only purpose this film served was to introduce a new hero and heroine to the franchise for the films which are scheduled for 2017 and 2019. The story is identical to the original, some of the ships are the same, the big threat is the same but bigger, the giant weapon is destroyed in an identical sequence. I didn't expect a great movie but did expect something original.

If this is typical of the Star Wars franchise Lucas has worked a minor miracle to have keep it going for nearly 40 years.

After convincing my 'step-daughter' that Steven Seagal films are worth watching, we sat through 90 minutes of bilge.
The Keeper is a no-no.
You could sell snow to the Eskimos.

I don't mind some of his nineties films if you want a bit of no nonsense fisticuffs though.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 8/10

There is a reason it's the same as 'the original' - it's supposed to be! Each trilogy tells the same story with a different generation of characters.

Although it was pish, Phantom Menace is exactly the same as Star Wars.

Anyway, I thought it was really well done. The physical effects were excellent, the humour and pacing were spot on. They nailed the incompetence of the Storm Troopers and overall it captured the feeling of the universe and set up the next two films really well.

Spoiler alert - the next one will be a bit dark and the conclusion to the trilogy will feature an unlikely but heroic denouement.

not last night but yesterday afternoon.

Cockleshell heroes , and then The heroes of Telemark.

you know its the gap between Christmas and New Year when the old war fillums are on

Both have a lot of licence from the actual events , but are pretty good. my 8 yr old loved both of them

...And which one of you was more surprised?

I did lose some credibility, but the following night she chose Self/less - a pile of cack. So, dishonours were even.

Yeah, and yellow snow at that.

Agree. His earlier films were much better, but then he was a lot younger.

The Seagull is brilliant, I'll not hear a word against him.

Sorry! Seeing is believing.

I like him too, but he's had his day as a vigilante, I'm afraid.
