Star Wars. Daisy was very good but to tell the truth I was more excited about the trailer for London Has Fallen cos Big Ben falls over sideways and explodes.
I do that sometimes.

I too saw Star Wars.
I liked it a lot, there were plenty of really cracking scenes, but agree with some of the criticism that
it's possibly too similar to Episode IV.
Plus, I hope Mark Hamill wasn't being paid by the amount of screen time he had.

Hellboy II. Marvellous OTT steampunk comicbook stuff. I think Del Toro is a bit of a genius .

I agree, but I think he's lost it a wee bit recently. Pacific Rim and his TV show The Strain were very poor. And he was involved in the atrocious Hobbit trilogy. Crimson Peak was pretty awful too.

Still, Hellboy III is on the cards and there's always Pan's Labyrinth or Kronos to enjoy!

Last night I watched North Face - 7/10.

Brutal and uncompromising WWII affair of a pair of German climbers who don't give a toss about the Third Reich but are compelled to scale the Eiger. Definitely worth a watch, but if you've a fear of heights be warned - some of the shots are properly vertigo inducing.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

I'd quite like a hell boy 111. The first 2 were quite good. Very tongue in cheek...

Not seen the strain, although the books were solid 2 1/2 / 3 star stuff until
the introduction of all the religious mumbo jumbo to explain what had been an interesting scientific take on vampirism
. I find I can still enjoy "bad" Del Toro for the most part, as long as his sensibility is evident enough - I got that from Pacific Rim, personally, but have yet to catch anything he's done after that.

TalkTalk tv offered free upgrades after their cyber attack recently so I chose the film bundle. Wanting to get the most out of it I have watched 3 and 2 halves of films in the last couple of days.

1. Dead Silence- a horror about possessed puppets. Sh!t.
2. Sniper- 23 days of fear in Washington DC. Average.
3. American Gangster. Switched it off after 45 mins.
4.The Gingerbread Man- awful.
5. Liar Liar- hilarious. Complete over acting by Jim Carey as usual, but after the last 2 it was light relief.

You're thinking of Benicio del Toro, the actor.
The del Toro people are referring to above is Guillermo del Toro, the writer/director.

I haven't seen Pacific Rim, or even heard of The Strain, but I loved Pan's Labyrinth. I only saw the first two Hobbit films before I gave up in despair they were so dreadful.

I came across special edition DVDs of the two Hellboy films in a charity shop, and the hours of behind the scenes stuff about how they made the creatures etc are absolutely fascinating (well, to me anyway, I love all that).

Like @John the Monkey I had read the books and was disappointed when they went where they did. Del Toro interpreted them into a TV series (I think it was on 'Watch') which promised much, but delivered a watered-down version which was very disappointing.

Both Hellboys are brilliant, visually stunning and Ron Perlman is perfectly cast. They are beacons in interpreting 'comics' into films, amidst a swamp of dreadful Spiderman and Transformer abominations.

Which brings me to The Hobbit...

Awful in several ways:

The dwarf/elf love triangle.

Why is Legolas in it?

It's 9 hours long.

I wonder if Jackson even read the book before he started on his laborious and over-wrought interpretation.Tolkien wrote it as a light-hearted short story to tell his children at bed-time.

I think it's the first film that has actually made me angry; I realised half-way through the second one where it was going to end and knew that they wouldn't have enough book to make another film.

May be visually impressive, but no hiding recycled plot lines from the original. Fun, but every ride on the Lucasfilm roller-coaster is getting a bit boring now....
